BNT1: Bulgarian Woman Makes the "Forbes" List with Her Hot Pepper Farm

27-year-old Slavena Rodinova from the village of Strashimirovo near Varna has made the Forbes "30 Under 30" Europe list. She runs a family hot pepper farm and never imagined she would find herself in this ranking. It has given her the courage to chase her dreams even more boldly.

"When your motives are pure, your intentions are sincere and you believe in something with all your heart, the whole world seems to help you along. And I think there are moments when the Universe itself tells you: you're on the right path, keep going, you can do it," said Slavena Rodinova.

It may sound incredible, but Slavena Rodinova has been helping to grow herbs and vegetables in her parents' garden since the age of three – back then it covered 10 decares (1 hectare). As she grew older, she sold their produce at the market in Varna.

"Because of all that physical work when I was little, I said I didn't want to go into farming. I didn't want to be dirty and unkempt, with cracked, rough hands. I wanted to be a gentle, feminine woman, to radiate cleanliness," Slavena Rodinova recalled.

"Extraordinary things can happen to ordinary people too. Nobody ever supported us. We had no connections, no contacts in any institutions, but the path we walked, the work we put in, the love we poured into it – everyone else began to see it. And now the moment has come when all of that is starting to pay us back," said Darina Rodinova.
