Origin and characteristics

The Leskovac ginka is an old, proven variety with a rich history. It is distinguished by a thin, long pepper with shiny red skin and a slight curve. The spiciness is moderate - about 5,000 to 15,000 SHU, which makes it suitable for wider use in the kitchen. Its aroma is dense and slightly smoky, and the taste is rich and complete.

This variety is traditionally used for drying, pickling, roasting, as well as for making ajvar, chutney, pastes, and dried peppers.

Growing in Bulgaria

"Leskovachka Jinka" adapts perfectly to the climatic conditions in Bulgaria. It is easy to grow – both outdoors and in greenhouses. It likes warmth, sun and light, fertile soil. Planting is done after the frosts have passed (usually after May 6), at a distance of 30–40 cm between the plants.

The plants are hardy, medium tall (up to 70 cm), with a high yield of long and slender peppers. They are suitable for both home gardens and larger-scale cultivation.
