This variety originates from the island of Trinidad and was selected from the original Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, which was long recognized as the hottest pepper in the world. The chocolate version (Chocolate Moruga Scorpion) is every bit as fiery – its heat reaches between 1,200,000 and 2,000,000 SHU on the Scoville scale. It stands out with a slightly smoky, earthy flavor and a powerful peppery aroma, making it a favorite for hot sauces, pastes and marinades.

Growing in Bulgaria

This exotic variety can be grown successfully in Bulgaria – both in greenhouses and outdoors under the right conditions. It prefers a warm, sunny, sheltered spot. Water regularly, but avoid letting the soil stay waterlogged.

Seedlings are planted out once the danger of frost has passed – usually after May 6. The pods have an uneven, wrinkled surface and a deep, dark color.
