Origin and history of the variety

This variety originates from the island of Trinidad and was selected from the original Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, which has long been recognized as the hottest pepper in the world. The chocolate version (Chocolate Moruga Scorpion) is no less fiery – its spiciness reaches between 1,200,000 and 2,000,000 SHU on the Scoville scale. It is distinguished by a slightly smoky, earthy taste and a powerful peppery aroma - it is preferred for making hot sauces, pastes and marinades.

Growing in Bulgaria

This exotic variety can be successfully grown in Bulgaria – both in greenhouses and outdoors under suitable conditions. It prefers a warm, sunny and sheltered location. Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging.

Seedlings are planted after the danger of frost has passed – most often after May 6. The fruits have an uneven, wrinkled surface and a deep dark color.
