Origin and Characteristics

Leskovachka Dzhinka is an old, tried-and-tested variety with a rich history. It produces thin, long peppers with glossy red skin and a slight curve. The heat is moderate – around 5,000 to 15,000 SHU, which makes it suitable for wider use in the kitchen. Its aroma is full and slightly smoky, and its flavor rich and well-rounded.

This variety is traditionally used for drying, pickling, and roasting, as well as for making ajvar, lyutenitsa, pastes, and dried peppers.

Growing in Bulgaria

"Leskovachka Dzhinka" adapts extremely well to Bulgaria's climate. It is easy to grow – both outdoors and in greenhouses. It loves warmth, sun, and light, fertile soil. Plant out once the frosts have passed (usually after May 6), spacing the plants 30–40 cm apart.

The plants are hardy and medium-tall (up to 70 cm), with a high yield of long, slender peppers. They are suitable for home gardens and larger-scale growing alike.
