Origin and Characteristics of the Variety

The Blue Eye variety (also known as Blue Fire Pepper) is the result of selective breeding of ornamental hot peppers, combining striking looks with real heat. The pods are about 4–6 cm long, with thin skin and shifting colors – from deep blue to fiery red at full ripeness. The heat is medium – around 20,000–50,000 SHU – which lets you use the peppers in all sorts of dishes without them taking over.

And it's not just pretty – the pepper is delicious too, with a fruity, slightly smoky aroma that holds up even after drying or preserving.

Growing in Bulgaria

Blue Eye seedlings are well suited to pots, garden beds or greenhouses. The plant is compact – reaching about 40–60 cm in height – which makes it excellent for balconies, terraces and urban gardening. It prefers a sunny spot and nutrient-rich soil.

Plant out after the last spring frosts have passed (after May 6). Water moderately. The plant starts bearing fruit as early as midsummer, and the harvest continues into autumn.
