Origin and History of the Variety

The Naga variety is closely related to the world-famous Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) and Dorset Naga, and was among the first peppers to officially break the 1,000,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units) barrier. Its flavor is rich and fruity, with a slightly smoky, almost creamy note that unfolds before the heat hits with full force. That is why it is a favorite for hot sauces, marinades and fermented products, where the heat needs to be deep and long-lasting.

Growing in Bulgaria

Naga can be grown successfully in Bulgaria, as long as it gets warm conditions and plenty of light. It does best in greenhouses, polytunnels or sheltered, sunny spots. Plant the seedlings out once the frosts have passed (after May 6).
