The order of the Minister of Agriculture for the recognition of the variety is numbered RD 12-5/08.03.2022

On 16.02.2022 we officially received a certificate with number 4907/921.2019 for the recognition of the hot pepper variety "Bulgarian Spirit"

The variety "Bulgarian Spirit" is registered in the EU common catalog of vegetable crop varieties and can be freely traded.

Bulgarian spirit was created and cultivated in Bulgaria and thrives beautifully in our latitudes

Bulgarian Spirit is a plant with a bizarre shape – the structure of the plant resembles our typical Bulgarian chili peppers, which are more bushy, but the shape of the fruit is exotic and resembles a glossy strawberry. It carries with it a strong pungency and citrus aroma, which leave a long and lasting aftertaste.

    Seeding: January-March

    Form: Shrubby

Fruiting: In greenhouses: June – December Outside: July – October

    Fruit shape: Glossy strawberry

About the creator of the Bulgarian spirit - Hristo Rodinov

Hristo grew up as the child and grandson of farmers.

He learned from his grandfather that land is the greatest wealth that you must take care of in order to obtain.

And today, Hristo often says that work is the foundation of everything.

    The family

Dedicating his youthful years to sailing and traveling the world, Hristo decided that he would continue on his family's path and engage in farming, while at the same time creating and building his own family.

His focus has always been in two directions – work and family.

He devotes his life to learning how to farm.

If you ask him a question, he will often compare work to family and reveal how much they have in common.

    LUTO AND BULGARIA

In 2011, he discovered the world of Chili Peppers and fell in love with them.

Not so much his love for hot peppers, but rather to provoke himself into seeing if he could grow the hottest peppers in the world in Bulgaria, where we have 4 seasons.

Studying the botany of these plants and everything related to them, he began his experiments.

Everything shows him that these exotic hot peppers thrive in Bulgaria when you learn to adapt to them and what they need.

He often returns to his grandfather's advice and the things he learned from him. Something is imprinted on him that provokes the creation of the Bulgarian spirit - "Never sow sweet pepper next to hot pepper."

    • In Bulgaria, people like to eat spicy food. And a lot of it. Unfortunately, however, the spicy culture here is quite distant and we don't know our level of tolerance. I wanted to create a variety, with which to provoke myself and all those Bulgarians whose hot peppers are not hot at all. I wanted to create a pepper that would be extremely hot, but would be much more productive than the hottest pepper in the world. I wanted to unite everything I know and can in one variety that would represent our country as a Hot Destination, where we develop the hot culture and move forward. And so I started crossing different varieties. I wanted to create one from several different varieties - resistant to our time, different, productive and very hot, and over the years this variety would stabilize. It took me about 6 years, as I had planted about 10 plants, of which only Bulgarian Spirit stabilized over the years and proved to be the most resistant for our region. Once I was sure that the variety was stabilized, we sent it for research to The Executive Agency for Variety Testing, Approbation and Seed Control at the Ministry of Agriculture, as we gave about 200 - 300 seeds to their bank and for 2 years they studied the variety, checking the name, family, parents, how it behaves, diseases, pathogens, how thrives and other parameters by which it was studied. On 16.02.2022 we officially received a certificate with number 4907/921.2019 for the recognition of the Variety and this was the happiest day for me. I believe that creating is the main driving force in life.
